Course Description

This programme is aimed at people who are in critical well control positions during well intervention operations. Candidates will complete an accredited training course, taught according to IWCF syllabus, in order to prepare them for assessment.

Audience

IWCF (2019) states, 'Recommended in addition to content covered in Level 3 training, wellsite supervisory and personnel primarily involved with well design and operational decision making process.

Wellsite supervisors and those involved with well design and operational decision-making are recommended to complete a Level-4 course in addition to content covered in Level-3. Also, those involved with potential well kill methodology should be trained to this high level.

Roles include but are not limited to:

Drilling/Intervention Wellsite Supervisor, Superintendent or Company Man Office based Drilling/Intervention Supervisor Office based Drilling/Intervention Superintendent Tool Pusher Wellsite Well Testing Supervisor Wellsite Completions Supervisor Intervention Supervisor Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) Drilling Contractor Rig Manager Supervisors or Crew Chiefs for special service operations Fishing engineer (if supervising well kill/pressure controlled operations)'

Course Description

The WIPC course at Level 2 is the introductory programme which is designed for individuals below a supervisory level but people who are in critical well control positions during well intervention operations. This course will be delivered by one of our highly experienced instructors by means of interactive media slides, animations, group activities and classroom exercises.

The course comprises of 5 modules; however, only 3 are compulsory:

Mandatory

  • Completion Equipment
  • Completion Operations

Optional (min. 1 subject)

  • Coiled Tubing Operations
  • Snubbing Operations
  • Wireline Operations

Audience

The certification standards in our programme are based on the pressure control knowledge required by service Equipment Operators in their respective jobs. This includes (but not exclusively) to crews within:

  • Intervention services
  • Well-site services
  • E-line/slick-line
  • Coiled tubing teams
  • Snubbing
  • Well test crew members
  • Cementing, Pumping and Stimulation service lines
  • Production operations/supervisors
  • Any affiliated well-head operating/maintaining members
  • Well and Operations engineers

Candidates successful in Level 2 should be aiming to progress to Level 4 status.
